Eating gluten free in New Orleans, Louisiana is not that difficult if you plan ahead. I spent a brief, few days in New Orleans a couple of years ago while attending a conference for work and found some great gluten free places to eat while there. I would still love to go back and try even more. I listed the places I did get to try below. Check out my posts for recommendations in Tulsa, Las Vegas, and Destin, too!

Gluten Free Restaurants in New Orleans, Louisiana

Casamento’s Restaurant

Casamento’s Restaurant was such a unique experience! Almost everything there is gluten free except the bread. All the fried seafood is gluten free. The fried food was so good. Even my gluten eating friends said it was their favorite restaurant we went to while in town. It is a small, quaint restaurant, and it is cash only.

Holy Crepes

Holy Crepes is a walkup Creperie in the historic French Market of NOLA. They offer sweet and savory crepes. Most of their crepes can be made gluten free. It is made on the same surface so you can ask for them to clean it. I tried both, sweet and savory and they were both amazing!

Mais Arepas

Mais Arepas Colombian restaurant, in the Garden district, is almost completely gluten free as well. My favorite was the Buñuelos de Cordero-Colombian-style cheese fritters, Slow-cooked lamb shoulder, Black beans, and Cotija. I believe the main dish I ordered was the “Carnicera” which is Grilled Wagyu Skirt Steak, avocado, and ripe plantains. I also had a delicious Jalapeno Margarita. This place is a must try when visiting New Orleans, gluten free or not! Last I was told, their entire menu is gluten free.

Piccola Gelateria

Amazing latte and gluten free gelato

(They also make crepes here but do not offer gluten free)

We finished off two of our evenings at the cutest gelato shop with the sweetest owners. Piccola Gelateria had wonderful gelato and espresso drinks. It is located right around the corner from Casamento’s and we just happened to stumble upon it.

What other New Orleans gluten free restaurants should I try next time we visit??
